POSITION SUMMARY:

Under very general direction, works from specifications to develop or modify complex software programs to enhance an operating system. May give some guidance to less experienced software systems engineers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The candidate will engage in supporting projects aimed at leveraging COTS) and GOTS technologies and products with the goal of creating robust voice and data networks to support military use. The position will involve development, test, and support of a broad range of communications and Information Technology products and solutions for application to current and future military networks and systems. The position requires the candidate to develop, test and support solutions in one or more of the following areas: wired/wireless data networking, network management, network security, IP telephony, command and control software, and RF communications systems.

•Minimum of 5 years of System Engineering design, implementation and support experience in Microsoft Windows environments
•Understanding of TCP/IP networks and routing protocols: OSPF and BGP
•Experience in designing, implementing and troubleshooting wired/wireless networks

•Knowledge of router and switch configuration
•Knowledge of and / or experience with Java and / or .NET applications
•Virtualization experience
•Knowledge of commercial wireless, WiMax, and Wi-Fi standards (current and future), SMART phone infrastructure requirements
•Knowledge of Voice Over IP (VOIP) telephony infrastructure requirements and implementation
•Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) networking

Investigates and resolves operational problems in conjunction with other engineering and technical personnel.

Develops logic, codes, tests and debugs software packages.

Identifies system requirements for operations and security, and works with other engineers and staff to develop designs and integrate components.

Performs system designs, developments and product verification testing on power, control systems, software, hardware, and equipment.

Develops the operations, management, integration & security requirements.

Develops and documents system architecture, including relevant user cases.

Develops security procedures for design reviews, and for operational monitoring, recording, and responding to security events.

Develops the client/company operations & system integration plan including end-to-end scenarios including schedules and budgets.

Develops verification plans based on requirements and architecture documents.

Defines operations, security and integration tool requirements to allow users to evaluate and analyze their network resources for performance and scalability in test-bed and modeled environments.

Packages and engineers releases to integrate with the companys operating systems.

Develops and modifies complex software, such as routines supporting multiprogramming, telecommunications and file management.

Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced analysts. May review the work of others and be able to detect errors or needed modifications.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent and five to seven years of related work experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
