POSITION SUMMARY:
This F.T.position is with a DoD Agency in E-commerce operations working with Oracle Federal Financials applications on site in Aurora, CO.
Defines and administers database organizations, standards, controls, procedures, and documentation for the OFF system. Provides experienced technical consulting in the definition, design, and creation of a data base environment. Designs, implements and maintains moderately complex databases, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation and statistical methods. Advises applications development staff and users on database solutions to business problems, data architectures, data base management system facilities and capabilities, and the operation and tuning of databases. Independently analyzes, compiles requirements, and develops database solutions for Oracle database systems and related tools. Defines file organization, indexing methods, and security procedures for specific Oracle applications. Maintains database dictionaries, monitors standards and procedures and integration of systems through database design. Maintains accurate and up-to-date knowledge of database information and requirements for maximizing database potential. Develops and maintains expertise in use of automated tools for database design and implementation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establishes the needs of users and monitoring user access and security.
Monitors performance and manages parameters to provide fast query responses to front end users.
Maps out the conceptual design for a planned database in outline.
Refines the logical design so that it can be translated into a specific data model.
Assists in further refining the physical design to meet system storage requirements.
Installs and testes new versions of the database management system.
Writes database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary.
Controls access permissions and privileges.
Develops, manages and testes backup and recovery plans.
Ensures that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.
Analyzes the data stored in the database and makes recommendations relating to performance and efficiency of that data storage.
Provides team leadership to less experienced staff.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Requires bachelor's degree (in Computer Science or related field) or equivalent, and seven to nine years of related experience, including experience with Oracle applications and databases
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
Required Qualifications:
Requires US Citizenship and must be capable of obtaining an holding a ADP II.
Strong interpersonal and teaming skills.
