POSITION SUMMARY:
As a recognized company authority, provides both internal and external consulting services. Works independently on advanced systems/software analysis projects. Remains current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments/applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identifies system requirements for operations and security, and works with other engineers and staff to develop designs and integrate components. Performs system designs, developments and product verification testing on power, control systems, software, hardware, and equipment. Develops the operations, management, integration & security requirements of increasing complexity. Develops and reviews system architecture, including relevant user cases. Manages installation, maintenance and support of complex technical infrastructures, hardware, and system software components. Manages and tunes platforms to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved. Develops models for future architectural enhancements to system hardware. Develops security procedures for design reviews, and for operational monitoring, recording, and responding to security events. Develops and may conduct training programs. Recommends future direction or projects to management. Provides expertise and direction in the development or modification of complex software programs to enhance an operating system. Interfaces with all aspects of the team to resolve system engineering issues and actions. Originates and delivers technical briefs to the government and contractor personnel and all levels. Responsible for providing technical support and system engineering assistance to other elements at the direction of the government client. Provides system engineering support and advice for team integration on new platforms when required at system level for cost/schedule impacts. Reviews project initiatives and designs changes for cost/schedule impacts at system level. Provides weekly highlights and bi-monthly status inputs to the government client and other technical working groups to include documentation of status, issues and proposed solutions. Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product. Develops and may conduct training programs. Recommends future direction or projects to management. Provides expertise and direction in the development or modification of complex software programs to enhance an operating system. Provides advice and guidance to less experienced staff.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent and 12 to 15 years of related experience.
Shall have a minimum of twelve (12) years experience as a Systems Engineer performing and providing technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of complex hardware/software systems to include requirements elicitation, analysis and functional allocation, conducting systems requirements reviews, developing concepts of operation and interface standards, developing system architectures, and performing technical/nontechnical assessment and management as well as end-to-end flow analysis.
• Shall have a minimum of five (5) years experience leading, providing technical supervision, and guiding mid-level engineering personnel; solving varied technical/scientific problems; and generating and reviewing designs for technical accuracy, completeness and appropriateness in light of objectives, budget, and schedule.
• Shall have experience in developing documentation required to support a program's technical issues and training situations.
• Shall have experience in analytical environments/intelligence production organizations.
• Shall have experience in developing system performance, availability, scalability, manageability, and security requirements for mid-to-large-scale programs.
• Shall have experience developing, delivering, testing and supporting integrated HW & SW systems with functional requirements.
• Shall have experience with system architectures in a service oriented and Enterprise Service Bus environment.
• Shall have experience using agile and/or spiral development models.
Security Clearance:
Must have current TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
