Duties and Responsibilities:

The Network Engineer L2 must have experience in VOIP. The NE L2 tests and analyzes all elements of the network facilities including power, software, security features, communications devices, lines, modems and terminals and for the overall integration of the enterprise network. The NE L2 monitors and controls the performance and status of the network resources utilizing software and hardware tools, identifying and diagnosing problems and factors affecting network performance.

Primary Duties: To have knowledge of the devices, capabilities, functions and environment required to support the implemented VoIP structure. To train/mentor other network engineers in the VoIP functional area. To perform hands-on programming of all devices within the functional area, to include staging, configuration, operations and maintenance support. To have an understanding of converged voice and data networks and the challenges faced by the various network technologies.

Required Qualifications:

Typically requires bachelor's degree in or equivalent and five to seven years of related experience.

Equipment Knowledge Area:

Expected to have mid-level knowledge of a standard Cisco VoIP installation. This includes the following equipment and software specific knowledge related to a majority of the following hardware; Contact Center Media Convergence Server Unified Operations Manager Unified Contact Center Express Unified Service Monitor Unified Service Statistics Manager Unified Provisioning Manager

CUPS: Unity Connection Server

Call Manager v8+

UCM Publish and Sub Call Managers

Cisco 3900 series VoIP Gateways

3,000 Cisco 7000 Series VoIP Handsets, both standard and TSG.

850 Analog Connections, to include both Fax, emergency and STE's.

Expected Skills: To have a solid foundation in Network Engineering, to include a good knowledge of modern Cisco network switches, routers, LAN/WAN technologies, TCP/IP, Voice VLAN, VRF technology, OSPF and QoS. Perform configuration and operational support of all equipment in the VoIP functional specified previously. To have the knowledge and skills to troubleshoot an enterprise CallManager, Unity and VoIP network deployment for 3,000 customers. The candidate should have hands-on experience in configuring, deploying and troubleshooting Unified Communications solutions. Ability to reason and think logically.

Strong attention to detail in regards to hardware implementation and documentation. Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and with written documentation.

Knowledge / Training desired:

Cisco CCNA (Voice) desired

Cisco CCVP (Voice) desired

The clearance level is TS and eligible to obtain SCI.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience Requirements: At least 6 years experience in networks and a moderate level of experience in CISCO Voice Over IP in an enterprise environment.
