POSITION SUMMARY:

Analyzes complex local and wide area network systems, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accountable to the Support Technology Lead for utilizing standard GECC-T service management technologies to develop specific supporting service management capabilities in support of services offered and service level targets for both the GECC-T service and other IT services.

Resolves difficult inter-operability problems to obtain operation across all platforms, including e-mail, files transfer, multimedia, teleconferencing and similar issues. Configures systems to user environments. Supports acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services. Understands commercial and federal information system security requirements. Analyzes information system security issues, proposes solutions and ensures information security is a foundation in information system design. Confers with personnel of organizational units involved to analyze current operational procedures, identify problems, and learn specific input and output requirements such as forms of data input, how data is to be summarized, and formats for reports. Studies existing information processing systems to evaluate effectiveness and develops new systems to improve production or workflow as required. Plans and prepares reports, memoranda, and instructional manuals as documentation of program development. Responsible for the employment, training, motivation, discipline and performance evaluation of assigned employees.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent, and 10-12 years of related progressively responsible network systems engineering experience, including one to two years of supervisory and/or management experience. Masters degree in Computer Science preferred.

- Required IAT Level II certification - per DoDD 8570.1

- Solid understanding of HP Openview Service Manager, HP Openview CMDB, Crystal Reports or other similar reporting tool suite.

- Experience utilizing ITIL incident and problem management practices to resolve technical issues

- Strong technical analytic skills

Security Clearance:

Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
