The Ideal candidate is an experienced, energetic, and enthusiastic mid to senior-level digital forensic examiner, cybercrime investigator, or law enforcement digital forensic analyst or agent who enjoys tackling hard challenges, is obsessed with learning about the newest technologies as they emerge and possesses a mastery of digital forensics principles and techniques in acquiring, collecting, preserving, processing, and analyzing electronically stored information.
Undergraduate degree in Digital Forensic Science, Computer Science/Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Mathematics, Cybersecurity, Criminal Justice, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years continuous digital forensics experience that includes: case planning, evidence collection, forensic acquisition, full-scope examination, results presentation, and evidence disposition; successfully pass a competency test and maintain annual proficiency in Digital Forensics as determined by CDFL
Digital forensic certifications (one or more): A+, CFCE, CCE, GCFA, GCFE, EnCE, ACE, CCME, or similar certification
Knowledge of and experience with a wide variety of advanced computer, server, and mobile device technologies, digital forensic theories, and applicable criminal and civil law
Demonstrated ability to conduct end-to-end digital forensic examinations and developing forensically sound evidence.
A Master's degree in Digital Forensic Science, Computer Science/Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Mathematics, Cybersecurity, Criminal Justice, or a related field
12 years professional work experience in a related field
Cyber/network related certifications: (one or more): Network+, Server+, GREM, GNFA, CISSP, CCNA, CCNP, or similar certification
Prior experience conducting post incident response computer and network forensics
Experience testifying in court, Grand Jury, or other legal proceedings through testimony, sworn affidavits, declarations, or other legal instruments
You are a member of SWGDE or the DME OSAC and are familiar with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements
A day in the life of a Digital Forensics Examiner (DFE):
You'll work with a team of digital forensic experts conducting digital forensic examinations in support of federal government criminal and civil investigations and litigations
You'll manage digital forensics examinations through the entire lifecycle (case planning, intake, acquisition, examination, presentation and disposition)
You'll provide subject matter expertise in investigative techniques and technologies
You'll also provide oral and written communications to legal staff, investigators, and project managers concerning results of examinations to include legal declarations
You may assign forensic work to a team of digital forensic analysts as well as monitor the status of assigned tasks and provide technical guidance and assistance to team members as needed
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for potential access to classified and controlled unclassified information. Accordingly, US Citizenship is required.
