Job Description

CACI is seeking On-Site Systems Engineers for the Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN) Remote Tracking Stations. Be part of a great team of professionals on the Consolidated Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN) Modifications, Maintenance and Operations (CAMMO) program.

What You’ll Get to Do:The Site Systems Engineer’s overall responsibility is to ensure proactive and effective engineering and integration efforts at the site for modification, sustainment, and maintenance efforts and be the primary interface to key CAMMO and Government personnel for these efforts.

  • Collaborate with and support employees, leaders, customers, and suppliers to achieve engineering and integration requirements.

  • Work independently on site and collaborate broadly across geographic and stakeholder boundaries.

  • Apply AFSCN and site-unique expertise to analysis, problem solving, and quick-reaction decision making.

  • Communicate well, often, and by all means possible (meeting, email, telephone, etc.) until you are certain the message has been conveyed and correctly received. This requires persistence and follow up on your part.

  • With your CAMMO leadership: Your Squadron Manager is your first contact in the CAMMO chain of command and your official sounding board for issues, ideas, and direction; keep your Squadron Manager in the loop (avoid surprises); ensure your facts are right; bring a potential solution if you’re presenting a problem.

  • With Site Manager, COO, and COS: Ensure you keep your site team in the loop on all engineering and integration activities and avoid surprises.

  • With CAMMO customers: Display patience and respect at all times; anticipate their concerns and questions so you’re prepared for a discussion before it begins; be on time with information; base your communications and answers on the requirements as written in the CAMMO PWS; if you experience a communication challenge, reach out quickly to your Squadron Manager for support (remember, your Squadron Manager is your first contact in the CAMMO chain of command and your official sounding board for issues, ideas, and direction.)

  • Share ideas that could improve the site’s performance or improve network performance with the Squadron Manager and CAMMO Chief Engineering Team.

  • Contribute to the CAMMO team’s conversion of requirements into solutions.

  • Apply engineering skills to the project lifecycle. This includes but is not limited to: requirements setting, supportability analysis, technical planning, systems integration, verification and validation, risk identification, training, installation and acceptance.

  • Identify and act on issues that affect integration activities at the site. Notify Squadron Manager of any issues.

  • Coordinate project scheduling with using command.

  • Monitor progress of projects and other efforts at your site and report to project/program leadership as applicable.

  • Meet daily with Site Manager, COO, and COS to discuss daily operations, maintenance, events, and issues to ensure situational awareness of the state of the site and other activities occurring on site.

  • Work with the Squadron Manager, COO, and COS to ensure objectives of projects and other efforts on site are communicated effectively to all employees.

  • Provide engineering support for ECPs and DMAs. Coordinate activities and schedules with the project engineers. Provide briefing to on-site leadership as required and keep them informed on project status.

  • Perform other tasks, as required, that are assigned per Squadron Manager’s direction.

  • Back up Site/Squadron Manager on CACI/CAMMO issues.

  • Review and provide redlines on documentation as required.

  • Act as the secondary POC for software, SWMA and IRON D/B. Distribute software updates to site personnel

  • Work with Engineering and Depot to ensure training for site personnel is effectively designed and delivered for use by the organizational-level personnel receiving the training.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

Education:

  • Typically has a University Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience

Required Experience: 2+ years related work experience with:

  • Systems engineering

  • AFSCN and/or DoD

  • AFSCN Remote Tracking Station

  • System and network Integration Skills

  • Configuration management

Required Skills:

  • Must demonstrate ability to apply analytical, interpretive, evaluative, constructive, and creative thinking skills in variable situations and be an innovative problem solver

  • Must have a strong customer focus

  • Must be a strong team player, leader, and communicator.

  • Effectively take on the role of team leader, or supporter upon determining which one a situation dictates

  • Appropriately and effectively give and receive verbal, written, or non-verbal messages (to both superiors and subordinates) that express an idea or clearly convey an intended message

  • Empower employees to challenge themselves and take acceptable risks in pursuit of solutions and innovations that support process, program, and company advancements

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Security+ Certification (must obtain within first 6 months of employment)
