CACI is seeking a scientific data analyst to join our award-winning team. The candidate to fill this position will work on projects alongside talented, experienced professionals to develop and provide high-level expertise in application public health disciplines to collect, abstract, code analyze or interpret scientific data contained within information systems and database related to public health.

The Scientific Data Analyst position requires strong analytical and interpersonal communication skills to work alongside epidemiologists, public health analysts and statisticians. The SDA helps to develop and maintain data management systems, including programs to monitor data quality.

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports

  • Support various data validation and analysis projects, including data review, data clean-up, and preparation of project documentation.

  • Working closely with epidemiologists and data analysts to assist with conducting data analysis, prepare and document data requirements and conduct data validation for the automation of data extractions to be used in routine analytics.

  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality

  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems

  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets

  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing artifacts and other indicators to locate and correct code problems

  • Work with management to prioritize data needs

  • Assist in the review of study data for data quality;

  • Organize study files, including data and correspondence files;

  • Perform scientific, medical and research literature searches in fields including but not limited to Behavioral and Social Sciences, Epidemiology, and Laboratory and prepares slides for scientific presentations;

  • Provide analytic support to multi-disciplinary teams to accomplish public health research and program goals.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Must be able to obtain a NACI clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus a minimum 5 years of related work experience.

  • Must have experience with R or SAS.

  • Must have experience with Microsoft SQL Server.

  • Moderate experience with SQL, R, and/or SAS (at least 5 years of on-the-job experience).

  • Proven working experience as a scientific/data analyst

  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SAS, R. etc. – ability to write SAS code and use in a working context)

  • Perform data quality assurance activities, including identifying and resolving any inconsistencies in data flow, data outside legitimate ranges, and illogical data responses by developing data quality reports and investigation and resolution of data anomalies or errors by using a combination of software packages including SAS, MS Access and Excel, and other software as warranted.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings

  • Typically requires bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and two to four years of related experience.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • General knowledge of public health data analysis needs and techniques (programmatic and scientific, at least two years on-the-job experience).

Pay Range: The proposed salary range for this position is $59,400-$121,800. There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.
