What You’ll Get to Do:

  • In support of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Air and Marine Operations Center (AMOC), writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications, instructions, management documentation to a wide range of audiences.

  • Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.

  • Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducts quality review of materials.

  • Provides configuration management support of technical documentation.

  • Works closely with Government Systems personnel and managers on various projects.

  • Design, develop, and implement contract deliverable document formats

  • Support engineering updates to maintenance manuals

  • Support test engineer development and performing of test plans and procedures

  • Support software engineer development of version description documents

  • Support production of program management presentations

  • Support updates to various building drawings

  • Supports configuration management of technical documentation

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree and 3 years work experience

  • AA and 7 years verifiable experience in the technical writing field

  • Must be a U.S. citizen

  • Must be able to attain U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance (Minimum)

  • Must be able to successfully pass a CBP Background Investigation

  • 3 Years of Technical Writing for maintenance manuals, test procedures, program contract deliverables and other technical documentation

  • Good Communications Skills (oral/written)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Visio, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Pro

These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have:

  • 1-3 Years Software Test Experience

Pay Range: The proposed salary range for this position is $44,900-$89,800. There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.
