Job Description

CACI is looking for an experienced IT Support Engineer to join our Photonics Solutions team. As a division IT Support Engineer, you will perform a variety of computer systems administration and support tasks to implement and maintain an IT environment that fosters the growth of the Photonic Solutions division.More About the Role:

Support the Photonic Solutions IT environment in:

  • Computer systems administration.

  • Application support.

  • Maintain LM license servers for engineering software tools (CAD) and related databases. Support CAD tool users and interface with vendors to maintain licenses and resolve issues.

  • Support RedHat / CentOS Linux servers in VMWare virtualized environment.

  • Maintain accountability of all high priority IT requirements, manage requirements from creation to completion.

  • Provide Linux and Windows system administration support (Red Hat or similar flavor, CentOS, Windows Server 2016/2019 etc.) .

  • Communicate with end users to resolve issues as soon as possible.

  • Report to management on IT requirements; escalate requirements needing immediate attention and/or are high priority for customers.

  • Assist users in requesting non-standard hardware / software and in whitelisting new software through the IT ticketing process.

  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues with Photonic Solutions computers and networked laboratory equipment, including initiating IT tickets and expediting IT tickets owned by other IT groups.

  • Liaison with other IT teams and champion Photonic Solutions division interests.

  • Maintain / update the Photonics’ System Security Plan.

  • Maintain a database of hardware and software that resides on a network with 200 users.

  • Support IT audits of cyber compliance of the network.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • In depth knowledge of Linux: RedHat, CentOS, Debian, etc.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Familiarity with VMWare and SAN management and concepts.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Excellent customer service skills: includes product knowledge, communication and listening, problem-solving, professionalism, action-oriented task management (multi-tasking), and confidence.

  • Must have good work ethics and show diligence in work performed.

  • Must take initiative / ownership of customer requirements and tasks.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and web-based interfaces.

  • Knowledge of IT system processes involving requirements definition, analysis, design, implementation, test, and support of hardware, software, networks, security, and life-cycle support.

  • Schedule: Full-time

  • Travel: Occasionally


  • Associates degree in Engineering, IT, or a related field and 2 years of related experience; or 4-6 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, skills and related experience.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Experience in supporting large organizations (200+ users).

  • Experience supporting Federal Government agencies, especially DoD.

  • Hands on experience with MySQL and/or MariaDB.

  • Experience using SharePoint and Cherwell.

  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP or higher) is preferred.
