What You’ll Get to Do :

As an Operational Advisor, you will assist the planning and execution of advisory support for the United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC). You will provide advisory assistance and specialized expertise on a variety of SOF Core Activities within the operational and training environments to enable USASOC to achieve tactical, strategic, and operational objectives. You will embed and support USASOC, their subordinate commands, and strategic partners as required. You will support tasks 3 and 7 within the Operations and Exercise (OP-EX) Functional Group.

More About this Role :

  • Provides service specific SOF unit experience based on former senior commissioned, non-commissioned, or warrant officer experience in an SOF operational role.

  • Provides operational advisory support that enables the command, its subordinate commands, and other strategic and operational partners to provide steady-state and surge support at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels.

  • Provides specialized expertise during the planning and execution of operations that increases supported unit situational understanding, capabilities, or capacity.

  • Supports and integrates analysis/development of tactical, operational, and strategic initiatives that codify approaches to frustrate/neutralize WMD devices/operations (component trans-shipment/weaponization, other related activities).

  • Rapidly deploys for cause as requested/directed.

  • Supportsthe integration of all Task 3 and Task 7 specific operational capabilitiesto leverage integrated support at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels.

  • Supports all echelons of Commands and the JIIM.

  • Conducts briefings/debriefings with senior leaders related to task management and assistance in the mitigation of risks and other security operations.

  • Mentors, trains, and advises senior leadership and below on all aspects of USSOF Core Tasks.

  • Advises and assists senior leadership with staff officer training to assist with developing and integrating counter-threat training that aligns with key operational tasks and goals.

  • Interacts and makes recommendations to senior-level leaders on how to integrate capabilities required to identify and exploit enemy networks to meet strategic objectives.

  • Advises and assists, based on available conventional and unconventional intelligence research and analysis, with the integration of kinetic and non-kinetic efforts used to mitigate, frustrate, or thwart threat network operations.

  • Scopes Operational Advisors’ support priorities to ensure efforts remain nested with unit priorities and are coordinated across the supported CSUs.

  • Completes quality assurance checks on all subtask 2 and 3 deliverables to ensure they meet the standard and are ready for review at the next level.

  • Maintains threat awareness, anticipates requirements, and develops courses of action to assist CSUsto integrateapproaches that reduce risk to acceptable levels.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications :

  • Current Top Secret/Specialized Compartmented Information Security Clearance.

  • Minimum of 15 years of military/DOD experience. 

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Special Operations.   

  • Demonstrated experience in the execution of SOF Core Activities.

  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.

  • Critical and conceptual thinking skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have :

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Active Duty military experience assigned to or directly supportingUSASOCor JointSOF organizations- TSOCs,GCCs, orTraining Commands.

  • Must be able to work independently with limited oversight andfunction effectively as part of a team in a joint working environment.
