What You’ll Get to Do

The Medical Materiel Enterprise Standardization Office (MMESO) Program within Defense Health Agency (DHA) Medical Logistics (MEDLOG) is looking for a Medical Logistics Data Analyst with experience in DOD medical supply chain operations, who is interested in a highly collaborative, dynamic and intellectually challenging and stimulating work environment. The mission of the MMESO Program is to standardize clinically vetted materiel for use across the Military Health System (MHS) in order to improve clinical outcomes, enhance readiness and training, control costs, and improve interoperability.

As a Medical Logistics Data Analyst, you will apply your technical expertise and problem-solving skills while working collaboratively with a cross-functional team to analyze DoD medical supply chain data, execute standardization actions and address gaps in data quality maximizing the benefits of standardization for DHA MEDLOG and the MHS.

More About the Role

In this role, you will:

  • Utilize your expertise of DoD medical logistics business processes, information systems and data to manage data feeds, integrate data into existing database platforms, facilitate data aspects of the standardization process and perform analysis.

  • Analyze procurement and inventory data to identify medical supply items that align with the scope of existing and candidate Standardization Actions.

  • Update product information within MMESO databases and standard item cross reference.

  • Review and validate project reports and supporting data to include product packaging and other catalog information, unit pricing and transactional information.

  • Produce project documentation using automated database processes and review work products for quality and accuracy.

  • Document discrepancies in item identifiers, attributes and/or industry product categorization based on verified product information. Work with data and system owners to resolve discrepancies.

  • Provide recommendations for master item, classification or standardization data corrections in accordance with the system owners’ procedures to Senior Data Analyst and Program Manager for quarterly and monthly reports

  • Assist Implementation and Communication Team with completing data aspects of Incentive Agreement and Voluntary Pricing Agreement implementation. Coordinate with the Implementation and Communication Team on findings that impact current Incentive Agreements or product conversion at the end-user level.

  • Provide regular reports and briefings to Program leadership on project status and performance metrics.

  • Build required contract deliverable reporting as needed or ad-hoc reporting upon request.

  • Identify, analyze, and interpret data trends or patterns in complex datasets.

  • Identify process gaps and recommend enhancements to Senior Data Analyst for review.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management or other similar technical field

  • 5+ years combined experience in data analyst and/or functional analyst roles preferably in medical logistics

  • Knowledge of and experience with relational databases and building queries to retrieve and analyze data (Microsoft Access, SQL, etc.)

  • Knowledge of and experience using software to create or analyze datasets

  • Advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel and Access

  • Proficient skill level in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Power Point.

  • Basic knowledge of computer programming

  • US Citizenship

  • Able to pass a favorable National Agency Check with Local Law and Credit (NACLC)

  • Strong understanding of data models, database design development and data mining

  • Able to clearly communicate data and concepts in written and verbal formats both within internal working groups and to external stakeholders.

  • Strong ability to successfully manage several complex tasks in a timely, effective manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, think independently, and work collaboratively with a multi-functional team

  • Able to think critically, make objective assessments and provide constructive feedback

These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have

  • Understanding of DOD medical supply chain/logistics operations;

  • Experience using Defense Medical Logistics information systems including but not limited to: Medical Product Data Bank (MedPDB), Joint Medical Asset Repository (JMAR), Defense Medical Logistics Standards System (DMLSS), Theater Enterprise Wide Logistics System (TEWLS), Federal Logistics Information System (FLIS), and Medical Master Catalog (MMC).

  • Experience in computer programming; knowledge and experience with VBA is desired.

  • Experience using Microsoft Teams or other virtual collaboration platforms

  • Experience using Tableau and/or other data analytics platforms
