More About the Role:
Network Engineer (Lead). Design and implement unclassified, coalition and classified networks to include installing and maintaining core services, configuring and installing hardware, develop testing and acceptance procedures and developing documentation to support PMO requirements as well as provide for future new requirements and upgrade current solutions. Ensures that the network/transport layers of the operating environment are compliant. Evaluates and troubleshoots problems of work flows and network usage, use standard troubleshooting practices and develops appropriate corrective action. Provides daily supervision and direction to staff. Requires good communication skills with other organizations and foreign mission partners for federation and interconnection of coalition networks.
Candidates will be required to perform the following functions:
Analyze and assess customer network operational environments including designs, configurations, and procedures for CENTRIXS, Pegasus and VDC equipment and systems.
Advise and recommend methods and architectures for new network designs, network tech refreshes, new services needed to support the MNIS mission to include video teleconferencing, management of call manager (CUCM) including dial plans, router configurations and routing plans and firewall and switch configurations.
Develop test methods, and perform testing and assessments in coordination with JITC and customers to assess suitability of customer systems for operational use.
Identify required network equipment and software version upgrades for all networks. Test new hardware and software versions and provide results before implementing into an operational system.
Maintain current documentation for all networks to include network diagrams, rack elevations and site contact information
Proficient with circuit ordering through DISA Storefront and proficient with SNAP and GIAP systems supporting unclassified and classified circuits respectively.
Assist the PMO in the development and presentation of MINS briefings.
Provide tier 3 level sustainment support for all MNIS networks. Able to escalate to Tier 4 support for elevated network issues on all technologies listed.
Open and close trouble tickets for the supported MNIS networks, tier 3 support . Assist troubleshooting with site personnel to determine status and provide technical assistance to ensure problem resolution.
Produce weekly activity reports and monthly metrics (performance) reports.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Must be technically proficient on all aspects of telecommunications, to include troubleshooting routers, routing protocols and firewall issues, crypto devices, diagnostics and reporting and follow up on incident failures.
Must be proficient in the use of COMSEC/KEYMAT devices, such as KG-175D’s, KG 175G’s, KG 175F’s and KG 250X’s.
Must have Top Secret Clearance
Must be proficient with:
Cisco Call Manager (CUCM) and dial plans
VTC (Cisco meeting server)
Session Border Controllers
All Cisco routers
Must be able to brief and interface with the MNIS PMO on failures/outages and actions being taken to restore service.
Must have the following certifications:
CCNA or equivalent certification
