What You’ll Get to Do:

• Leverage Model Based Systems Engineering to support requirements capture, system design, and system testing

• Assist in developing a new or innovative approach to a technical or engineering issue

• Support evaluations to determine its suitability for project implementation

• Research, analyze and propose appropriate engineering standards and processes for a project.

• Support quantitative analysis in non-functional system performance areas such as Reliability, Maintainability, Vulnerability, Survivability, Produceability

• Use validated models, simulations, and prototyping to conduct trade analysis to optimize system operations, mitigate risk, and reduce cost of system development

• Provide research to an Alternatives (AoA) effort to identify a preferred solution based on selection criteria adjusted for reasonableness and validity of assumptions, technology limitations, environmental impact, and life-cycle costs

• Coordinate the resolution of action items from Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews that require cross-discipline coordination

• Capture all interface designs in a common interface control format, and store interface data in a commonly accessible Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) repository

• Prepare time-line analysis diagrams illustrating the flow of time-dependent functions

• Develop operational view, technical standards view, and system and services view for architectures using applicable DoDAF standards and UML/UPDM

• Develop system design alternatives that consider life cycle cost, reuse, complexity, risk, system expansion, and growth

• Review and provide input to program and contract work breakdown structure (WBS), work packages and the integrated master plan (IMP)

• Support the identification and management of system requirements and derived requirements to ensure systems compatibility with the defined system architecture(s) – Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF), Service-oriented Architecture (SOA), etc.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and develop system requirements, functional requirements, and allocation of the same to individual hardware, software, facility, and personnel components

• Participate in Integrated Product Teams to design new capabilities based upon evaluation of development and operational considerations

• Participate in interface configuration definition, design, and changes to meet external system needs and technology changes.

• Derive lower-level requirements from higher-level allocated requirements that describe in detail the functions that a system component must fulfill, and ensure these requirements are complete, correct, unique, unambiguous, realizable, and verifiable

• Capture scenarios (threads) and an Operational Concept that describes the interactions between the system, the user, and the environment, that satisfies operational, support, maintenance, and disposal needs

• Contribute to the development of systems engineering documentation (e.g., System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirement’s specifications, and Interface Control Documents)

• Support the planning and test analysis of the DoD Certification/Accreditation Process (as well as other Government Certification and Accreditation (C&A) processes)

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline, Engineering Management, Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or physics from an accredited college or university plus six (6) years of systems engineering experience

• Or A High School Diploma or GED plus ten (10) years of general system engineering experience.

• Or A Master’s degree in an Engineering discipline or a related discipline mentioned above from an accredited college or university plus four (4) years of systems engineering experience

• Or A PhD in an Engineering discipline or a related discipline mentioned above from an accredited college or university plus four (4) years of systems engineering experience

• Familiarity DoD Architectural Framework (DoDAF) or Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework (FEAF) experience desired.

• Familiarity with Cameo Enterprise Architecture and SysML or UML desired
