Job Description
CACI is seeking fully cleared, dynamic technical professionals to join our TETRA program in the Northern, Virginia area. TETRA is an Enterprise IT Program that supports and protects the IC mission. The program is a portfolio of hundreds of projects funded by numerous customers providing Engineering and Sustainment services for a Global Information Technology Enterprise. What You’ll Get to Do:
CACI’s Business and Information Technology Solutions (BITS) Sector is seeking a Load Balancer Engineer who will oversee, support, and coordinate network policy, configuration, and troubleshooting in support of the enterprise Load Balancers. This position is a technical role with high visibility and is expected to interface with executive leadership and supported tenants. As a Load Balancer Engineer, you will also support the load balancing network and application requirements, collaborate with government and third-party stakeholders, coordinate with internal support teams, and report status to technical management and leadership.
Your responsibilities will include the following:
Providing architecture and/or engineering expertise for new load balancer implementations, cloud environment integrations, project designs, and standards development, as well as onboarding new tenants
Providing load balancing administration and/or support for intelligent DNS routing between enterprise locations and/or data centers
Planning and implementing upgrades, including installation of new equipment
Implementing approved authentication and certificate management controls
Utilizing caching (e.g., static html content) for the enterprise infrastructure environment (e.g., hardware, software, and configuration components), and supporting tenants
Supporting deployment options
Configuring self IPs, port lockdown, and network routes
Configuring remote logging to Splunk
Adhering to change management processes and procedures
Troubleshooting, configuring, upgrading, maintaining, and monitoring the load balancer network architecture (e.g., performance, configurations, traffic flow, application monitoring, CPU capacity, and utilization)
Analyzing network alarms and identifying sources
Coordinating with on-site support personnel, while troubleshooting
Utilizing enterprise service management tools to initiate, respond, and track service requests
Creating reports and analyzing performance metrics
Developing processes and/or procedures and related engineering documentation for troubleshooting and quickly identifying issues
Performing reach back to OEM vendors to de-conflict operational issues with known operating systems bugs and security alerts
Partnering with the information security personnel to assess potential exposure to vulnerabilities, identifying mitigation plans, and ensuring compliance with enterprise security baselines and standards
Evaluating modern technologies to optimize network efficiency and reviewing and/or providing recommendations to improve the load balancing solution
Informing management in a clear, concise, and timely manner of any customer or technical issues
Being responsive and decisive on adjusting architecture as customer requirements and technology evolves
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Technical support experience and advanced proficiency with protocols, design, configuration, and support of data center and campus network infrastructure related to load balancing solutions
Must possess experience configuring and maintaining load balancers and load balancing best practices
Must possess general WAN and LAN network management and monitoring expertise
In-depth knowledge of hardware platforms, including engineering design and deployment implementation guidelines
Experience with patching and upgrading load balancer equipment
In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP protocols
Experience building configurations utilizing CLI
Understanding of scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash and TMSH) and APIs
Broad understanding of network infrastructure topologies, security policies, firewalls, and the L2/L3 switch and router infrastructure
Results oriented resource with the ability to develop and maintain relationships across the organization based on trust, teamwork, and knowledge
Proven ability to resolve related issues and mitigate related risk by negotiating solutions that meet expected results
Possess flexibility to operate in a highly dynamic environment, while ensuring a high level of operational effectiveness
Must be able to informally diagram and describe solutions utilizing a whiteboard, as well as provide formal as-built diagrams and detailed descriptions in Visio
Detail oriented with ability to work well in a team environment
Education & Experience Required:
10 Years of job related experience and High School/GED diploma
8 Years of job related experience and Associates degree
4-7 Years of job related experience and Bachelor’s degree
3 Years of job related experience and Master’s degree
2 Years of job related experience and Doctorate
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Demonstrated ability to prepare and brief comprehensive engineering documentation (e.g., requirements, systems design, interface control documents, security, etc.)
Familiarity with cloud services and software defined networking
Functional understanding of network L2/L3 switching and routing protocols
Functional understanding of diverse set of networked applications and terms requiring application traffic management solutions, including HTTP, HTTPS, SSH, FTP, DNS, NTP, NAT, and others
Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, and/or Unix or Linux
Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure cloud technologies
Familiarity with DevOps methodology and automation provisioning platforms
LDAP and/or PKI experience is a plus
Excellent verbal skills and ability to communicate effectively with people who have varying degrees of technical expertise
Knowledge and some experience with Service Design Coordination, Service Transition Planning and Support, and Service Release and Deployment Management processes considered is a plus
