CACI International Lunar Gateway Autonomous Mission Management Software Systems Engineer in Houston, Texas
CACI is looking for an experienced Software Systems Engineer to support the Lunar Gateway Program at NASA Johnson Space Center in the design and development of the data model and interfaces for the on-board Vehicle Systems Manager (VSM) of the Lunar Gateway Space Station.
What You’ll Get to Do:
This software systems engineering position involves chairing the Mission Management Working Group (MMWG), generating the Mission Management and Timeline Execution (MMTE) data model, and developing integrated models and descriptions of timeline interfaces. Tasks include analyzing and documenting data needs, designing software interfaces and developing Interface Control Documents (ICDs), developing architecture and design artifacts, and collaborating with domestic and international Gateway partners.
This position requires a self-motivated, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must have strong customer relationship skills, possess a positive team-player attitude, be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise, and be an articulate speaker able to communicate complex technical ideas in a convincing manner. Perform systems engineering for integrated software control system.
Chair the MMWG.
Lead design and development of the MMTE data model.
Develop integrated models and descriptions of MMTE interfaces.
Analyze and document data needs.
Develop architecture and design artifacts.
Design software interfaces and develop ICDs.
Collaborate with domestic and international Gateway partners.
Interface with NASA and spacecraft module provider engineering teams.
Develop detailed knowledge of overall Gateway and individual spacecraft module operation through design evolution.
This work takes place at NASA/JSC in Houston, TX, a highly stimulating and dynamic environment that is critical in human space flight and the space exploration initiative.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to facilitate access to USG facilities.
B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Software, Computer or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines required.
Strong software systems engineering experience.
Experience defining interfaces between software applications and documenting them in Interface Requirements Documents (IRDs)/ICDs.
Experience developing integrated data models for applications.
Experience developing various software architecture and design artifacts.
Experience with data driven software systems.
Experience with EITHER:
Autonomous or remotely controlled systems (e.g., used in satellites, autonomous cars, or unmanned aerial vehicles), OR
Avionics and flight software development for human-rated space vehicles, e.g., Space Shuttle, International Space Station, Commercial Crew Vehicles, or Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle.
Strong evidence of success in highly collaborative projects/environments.
Ability to succeed in fast-paced environments.
Must be flexible, open to new challenges in a dynamic environment,
Possess strong technical expertise combined with verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision.
Must be a highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic.
Must have highly developed coordination and organization skills.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
M.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Software, Computer or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
DOORS (or similar requirements management tool) experience.
Systems Modeling Language (SysML) experience.
Use case development experience.
Experience with mission management for human rated or safety critical systems.
Strong background in software development, particularly in the front part of the lifecycle.
Experience with Agile software development environments and methodologies.
Experience with distributed systems.
Experience in the full life cycle of human-rated space vehicle flight projects. Space Shuttle, International Space Station, Commercial Crew Vehicles, or Orion.
