CACI International Lunar Gateway Software Systems Engineer in Houston, Texas
CACI is looking for an early to mid-level Software Systems Engineer to support the Lunar Gateway Program at NASA Johnson Space Center in the design and development of the data model and interfaces for the on-board Vehicle Systems Manager (VSM) of the Lunar Gateway Space Station.
What You’ll Get to Do:
This engineering position involves supporting the data analysis and integration effort for the Lunar Gateway VSM including generation and maintenance of the integrated data model. The individual will interface with various stakeholders to 1) understand and capture data needs and 2) develop and validate integrated data models and descriptions of VSM end-to-end operations.
This position requires a self-motivated, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must have strong customer relationship skills, possess a positive team-player attitude, be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise, and be an articulate speaker able to communicate complex technical ideas in a convincing manner. Perform systems engineering for integrated software control system.
Analyze and document VSM data needs.
Analyze and document VSM data required by subsystems and operators.
Maintain and validate the integrated data model .
Support changes to Concept of Operations and Detailed Design docs .
Develop architecture and design artifacts.
Interface with various data stakeholders including the Flight Operations Directorate and software development teams.
Interface with NASA and spacecraft designer engineering teams
Develop knowledge of overall Gateway and individual spacecraft module design through design evolution .
This work takes place at NASA/JSC in Houston, TX, a highly stimulating and dynamic environment that is critical in human space flight and the space exploration initiative.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to facilitate access to USG facilities.
B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Software, Computer or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines required.
2+ Software Systems Engineering experience.
Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
Experience with software development, particularly in the early part of the lifecycle.
Ability to succeed in fast-paced environments.
Flexible and open to new challenges in a dynamic environment.
Possess technical expertise combined with verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with some supervision.
Must be a responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic.
Autonomous or remotely controlled systems (e.g., used in satellites, autonomous cars, or unmanned aerial vehicles), OR
Avionics and flight software development for human-rated space vehicles, e.g., Space Shuttle, International Space Station, Commercial Crew Vehicles, or Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
M.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Software, Computer or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
DOORS (or similar requirements management tool) experience.
Experience with EITHER:o Autonomous or remotely controlled systems (e.g., used in satellites, autonomous cars, or unmanned aerial vehicles), ORo Avionics and flight software development for human-rated space vehicles, e.g., Space Shuttle, International Space Station, Commercial Crew Vehicles, or Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle.
Evidence of success in highly collaborative projects/environments.
Well-developed coordination and organization skills.
Systems Modeling Language (SysML) experience.
Experience with data driven software systems.
Use case development experience.
Experience defining data needs for applications and developing integrated data models.
Experience defining interfaces between software applications including developing Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
Experience developing/maintaining various software architecture and design artifacts including Concept of Operations and Detailed Design documents
Experience with Agile software development environments and methodologies.
Experience with distributed systems.
Experience in the full life cycle of human-rated space vehicle flight projects. Space Shuttle, International Space Station, Commercial Crew Vehicles, or Orion.
