We are looking for experienced, innovative and motivated IT Specialists to support enablement US AFRICOM’s mission objectives.

What You’ll Get to Do:

CACI has an excellent opportunity for an experienced, self-directed, Chief Engineer . This position is in support of a Department of Defense (DoD) organization, US AFRICOM located OCONUS in Stuttgart, Germany. This position is required to travel OCONUS.

As a team leader, the Chief/Lead Engineer works with other managerial staff to ensure project completion in an efficient manner. He/she oversees each phase of the design, installation, integration, or product development so that the team meets customer specifications and complies/conforms with the organizational roadmap. The Chief Engineer will supervise a team of senior engineers, work with the customer Chief Technology Officer and Enterprise Architect to provide senior level technical expertise, training and mentoring to their Network and System Engineering team. Develop engineering design plans, provide engineering solutioning, ensure engineering solutions meet configuration baselines. Develop and deliver installation, integration and maintenance documentation to operations and maintenance personnel. Providing tier 3 support when needed to operations and maintenance. Working with external service providers to ensure their solutions meet the organizations configuration management policy and procedures. Support engineering tasks for the project management lifecycle. Staying abreast of emerging trends in information technology and helping shape the work for the Government.

Working with the Government to understand their requirements and evaluate possible technical solutions. Establishes complex operational databases, software configuration control and system interfaces for computer systems. Maintains file servers, network access; documents, analyzes and troubleshoots systems anomalies to ensure optimum equipment performance.

Provide assistance via remote access, phone, or in person. Candidates need excellent problem-solving and customer service skills, as well as extensive experience with network hardware, software applications, operating systems and network connectivity. They must be customer service-oriented and proactive in anticipating and resolving problems while maximizing efficient use of resources.

More About the Role:

The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly both written and orally, have strong leadership skills, and present products and ideas in a business-like manner. The candidate will be required to work in dynamic fast paced environments that require team interaction and coordination of efforts. The candidate must be experienced in interfacing with both client managers and system users.

Lead engineer supporting command engineering designs, builds, and escalated support to services and products. Provide network and system engineering support services to improve customer service, system performance, and reliability for the C4 Networks and Systems for projects designated by the Combatant Command. Performs/supports/directs all required engineering functions found in the Service Design Domain.

Additionally, the Chief Engineer will provide remote support and/or travel to customer sites as required.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Currently hold an adjudicated Top Secret/SCI Clearance and be able to maintain

  • BA/BS + 10 years recent specialized or AA/AS + 13 years recent specialized or a major cert + 13 years recent specialized or 15 years of recent specialized experience

  • CompTIA Security + (IAT Level II or greater)

  • Expert level experience working within Enterprise Networking, Systems, Virtualization, and Infrastructure

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • ITIL v4 – Foundation

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

  • Automation using Microsoft PowerShell, VBScript, or batch files

  • Adaptable to changing circumstances and operational needs

  • Understanding of Department of Defense Military standards

  • Experience with DoD IT security requirements

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$90,300 - 189,600 USD
