What You’ll Get to Do:

As a CACI Integrated Air and Missile Defense Planner in support of the USAFRICOM J34 (ACJ34), you will assist the government with operational planning for air and missile defense operations within the U.S. Africa Command (USAFRICOM) Area of Responsibility (AOR).

More About this Role:

  • Provides joint military decision making process (JMDMP) planning and operations support for the development, planning, coordination, management, and execution of USAFRICOM’s IAMD mission and theater objectives.

  • Analyzes Political, Military, Economic, Social Information, and Infrastructure (PMESII) factors influencing military and political strategy, the planning and execution of military operations, and the impact of domestic and foreign policy on Air Defense (AD) and Missile Defense (MD) integration within the USAFRICOM AOR.

  • Provides analytical expertise to integrate USAFRICOM regional strategies into the operational planning and crisis action planning processes.

  • When required, serves as liaison between USAFRICOM and other combatant commands.

  • Represents USAFRICOM with expertise at IAMD conferences and related planning events.

  • Coordinates the development of OPLANS, EXORDS, and crisis action planning orders documentation, as well as OPT membership and CONPLAN re-writes.

  • Provides IAMD operational planning input and research products to support Joint Lessons Learned (JLL) databases.

  • Coordinates for service component-level input and generates USAFRICOM observations derived from the operational planning process for input into the MD Warfighter Involvement Process (WIP) and supporting processes such as the Modification and Fielding Requirements List (MFRL), and USAFRICOM Prioritized Capabilities List (PCL).

  • Provides analysis within the IAMD planning process to devise courses of action for the employment of equipment, weapons, tactics and strategy, doctrine, organization, training and facilitates to achieve mission accomplishment.

  • Works in collaboration with USAFRICOM component and subordinate commands, USAFRICOM J5 plans, and other Combatant Command IAMD elements to develop a coherent USAFRICOM IAMD plan.

  • Conducts and supervises studies, which involve the application of principles and techniques of individual’s specialized fields.

  • Performs intensive systematic analysis of complex problems with numerous and often vague variables to obtain planning solutions.

  • Prepares and presents multimedia presentation information, analysis, and assessment briefings.

  • Reports on staff action packages for command-level audiences.

  • Distills key data points from acquisition programs, development, funding and operational plans, and reports.

  • Extracts all-source intelligence from classified and unclassified materials to support conclusions and answer requests for information from command and subordinate command staff.

  • Represents USAFRICOM at meetings where the command has vital air and missile defense interests, ensuring that all USAFRICOM IAMD interests are effectively articulated.

  • Informs supervisor(s) of impacts on national, international, plus other IAMD systems or programs affecting USAFRICOM posture or practices.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Active TOP SECRET/SCI Clearance

  • A MA or MS in an appropriate discipline related to IAMD planning, policies, training, and operations with 3 years of experience; or, a BA or BS in an appropriate discipline with 6 years of experience; or, an Associate’s Degree with 9 years’ experience

  • Extensive experience with the Joint Planning Process as it applies to the application of Integrated Air and Missile Defense concepts and applications.

  • Training and military education focused on the application of IAMD concepts.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Prior experience working in Africa or at AFRICOM or at one of its Service Components

In line with the terms of this Contract, the AFRICOM Operations, Plans and Training Support (AOPTS) Program provides for:

  • Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) at State Department rates

  • An Education Benefit for dependent children K-12 at the DoDDS rates

  • Shipment and delivery of Household Goods (HHG) up to 18000 lbs.

  • Shipment and delivery of one privately owned vehicle

  • Overseas relocation travel for the employee and SOFA-approved family members for up to 60 days

  • Relocation lodging and per diem and the 75% rate

  • One rental car and fuel for up to 60 days

  • Transportation fares or mileage during relocation

  • The AFRICOM Operations, Plans and Training Support (AOPTS) Program is a Cost-plus-Award Fee Task Order with a Base plus Five Option Years. It was awarded 29 January 2020 under the One Acquisition Solution for Integrated Services (OASIS) – Pool One Contract. The period of performance ends 28 January 2026.

  • Employees on this task order are required to be granted status under Articles 72 or 73 of the NATO Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) before they may begin work in Germany, Italy or on the territories of other NATO SOFA signatories.

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$82,100 - 172,400 USD
