Job Description

CACI is looking for a Data Service Engineer to support a fast-paced, agile development team. As a Data Service Engineer, you will work with Government stakeholders at a customer site to provide data services by designing, building, troubleshooting, and tuning data pipeline service solutions using distributed computing, big data analytics and Hadoop ecosystem technologies.

Responsibilities

Document the definition and application of scripts and tools to prepare structured and unstructured data for processing.

Integrate and apply Hadoop ecosystem and related open source technologies to meet requirements.

Integrate and apply relational and NoSQL database technologies to meet requirements.

Develop monitoring and automation services for customer’s data service architecture.

Administer, configure, monitor and tune Linux-based data processing nodes within customer’s data service architecture using technologies including, but not limited to, Docker, AWS, and Puppet.

Build, test and document backup, restore and disaster recovery services within customer’s data service architecture.

Install, configure, upgrade, monitor, tune, troubleshoot and administer Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) frameworks.

Install, configure, upgrade, monitor, tune, troubleshoot and administer search platforms and solutions based on technologies including Solr.

Design, implement, tune and maintain indexes, facets and shards.

Responsible for the entire scope and life cycle of the assigned product lines, software applications, and services to include, but not limited to, design and architecture, documentation, user communication and coordination, security and compliance, underlying infrastructure, as well as adherence and participation in all life cycle and configuration management processes.

Evaluate customer’s data service capabilities and requirements and provide technical recommendations for information architecture, data modeling and data mining enhancements via customer’s IT roadmap.

Support the design and implementation of data access, quality, processing and discovery strategies such as user ranking, tagging, advanced relevancy ranking, automated suggestions, predictive analytics, advanced queries, and data visualization.

Develop software and scripts in Java, Scala, PowerShell and/or similar languages as necessary to prototype, integrate and maintain capabilities for customer's data architecture.

Develop and deliver briefings, technical proposals and architecture documentation.

Clearly document requirements, specifications, and processes.

Clearly communicate ideas and resolutions to customers in a timely manner.

Required Skills

BS degree in computer science or computer engineering with 3 years of full-time experience in code writing, debugging, documenting, and testing for software creation

3 years of experience in Linux administration

2 years of experience in applying Hadoop Ecosystem technologies within the last 5 years

1 year experience with data science applications (e.g., R, Jupyter, big data analytics, visualization)

1 year of experience using Linux configuration management for provisioning and automation (Puppet, Docker preferred)

1 year of experience with scripting (e.g.,PERL, PowerShell, Scala, Ruby)

1 year of experience using ETL technologies such as one of these: Storm, Kafka,NiFi, Spark

1 year of experience using cloud services -AWS preferred

1 year of experience with NoSQL search engine technologies such as Solr,Lucene, HBASE, ElasticSearch
