System Engineer to assist Navy customer with the Operational Readiness Test System (ORTS) program by analyzing requirements for existing and future Control Processor (CP) updates and support establishing and subsequently maintaining virtualized surface combat systems for ORTS.
Ideal candidate will have experience in the AEGIS Weapon System (AWS) as well as Linux, Unix, and Windows platforms and Java and C++ programming along with experience in databases. Must be able to travel and perform shift work. Needs to work well within an industry government team.
What You’ll Get to Do:
Develop and maintain operation of virtualized the Operational Readiness Test System (ORTS) Control Processor (CP) systems for all in-service baselines.
Assess and root cause reported computer program problems, develop and recommend solutions, deliver analysis reports.
Review computer systems capabilities and workflows
Make recommendations that include automation
Perform functional analysis of systems performance issues
Candidate may assist with testing and debugging.
Prepare required documentation, including program-level and user-level documentation
Install and configure applications.
Support land-based installation and training events as required.
Report status at internal and customer meetings.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
BS or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Information Technology discipline
Knowledge of Unix and Linux Operating Systems.
Ability to travel and work non-core hours as required during test event sessions
Ability to work well within an industry government team
Computer programming experience in Java and/or C++ Oracle and MySQL experience
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Working knowledge of Aegis Combat/Weapon Systems.
Understanding in building and maintaining Virtual Machines (VM)
