CACI has a near-term opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to serve as a technical advisor to the Deep Submergence Systems Program (DSSP) Office located on the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery Maine

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Serve as technical and strategic planning advisor who will act as a liaison between DSSP and its various resource sponsors as well as local engineering and production personnel.

  • Travel will be required.

  • All work is in support of Deep Submergence projects including but not limited to Unmanned Underwater Vehicles, Dry Deck Shelters, Submarine Rescue Systems, Dry Combat Submersibles, foreign military sales and other emergent programs.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a specialty field of engineering science.

  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years practical experience at a professional level, in responsible duties relative to design, maintenance, operations, repair and testing of deep submergence systems across the various engineering disciplines.

  • Experience must include working knowledge of complex engineering calculations such as finite element analysis, toxicity analysis, safety analysis, heat load analysis and stability calculations.

  • Able to provide comprehensive reports to various NAVSEA Program Offices.

  • Able to interface with Warfare Centers, SOCOM, WARCOM, Navy Labs, Office of Naval Research and private industry.

  • Familiar with Program Reviews, Engineering Reviews, Database Management, Configuration Management and approval of drawing changes.

  • Working knowledge of SUBSAFE and Scope of Certification (P9290) requirements.

  • At least fifteen (15) years of recent, relevant, technical engineering experience with the below industrial processes:

  • Material selection

  • Metallurgy

  • Welding

  • Adhesive application

  • Mechanical fasteners

  • Non-destructive test

  • Structural bulkheads
