What You’ll Get to Do:
This will be an important role as the QA representative of the NAVSEA Acquisition Program Office based in Washington, DC providing QA oversite to the construction of multiple warships that recently started production.
Monitor the shipbuilder including its subcontractors and OEM suppliers both domestic and international.
Provide oversight of QA initiatives implemented by the Prime Contractor and Shipbuilder for areas that have been identified as issues.
Monitor QA metrics and lead the QA team to discuss resolutions for rework, traveler work, and trial card resolutions.
Assist the Supervisor of Shipbuilding to write Corrective Action Reports and lead the effort to monitor their resolution.
Participate in Navy Failure Review Boards and make recommendations to resolve issues.
This may involve travel to the OEMs to assess their QA processes.
More About the Role:
As the Quality Engineer, the position will require being the interface between the following primary stakeholders; NAVSEA Acquisition Program Office, Navy Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Prime Contractor, and Shipbuilder. The goal is to achieve hull over hull quality improvements in order to realize cost, schedule, and performance benefits to all stakeholders.You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
US Citizenship is required with Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain/maintain such clearance.
BS in engineering (waived with prior US Navy experience)
10-15 years of experience with US Navy production shipbuilding and quality assurance engineering
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build/maintain long-term relationships with the team and customer.
Experience developing and reviewing changes to a quality management system (QMS) for two or more shipyards and successfully manage quality assurance
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Active DoD Secret
Experience with U.S. Navy PMS Program Office
Masters in Engineering
