What You’ll Get to Do:
Join a team of highly skilled knowledge managers and IT trainers providing a dynamic and cohesive approach to informing, educating, and communicating with DHS’s 15,000 user community. In this role as a Communications Specialist, you’ll develop a Communication Plan for new product deployments, write enterprise communications, and develop graphics for digital communication products.
More About the Role:
Create and maintain strategic Communication Plan aligned with DHS OCIO objectives to evolve into innovative approaches to further engage with the customer base.
Create communication materials including website content, emails, text messages, newsletters, mailers, flyers, and promotional items.
Engage and collaborate with project teams on communication requirements, making sure their requests and needs are fully met.
Partner with cross-functional teams to maximize the quality, and efficiency of communication campaigns.
Develop graphics to include icons and banners for producing visually appealing communication materials.
Maintain a library of briefings, presentation, graphics, etc. within an integrated digital environment (e.g., SharePoint).
Support and evaluate results of communication campaigns.
Establish communications standards.
Assist with the development of Knowledge Articles for user consumption.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Ability to attain DHS EOD
BA + 4 years’ applicable experience, AA + 6 years’ applicable experience, MA + 1 years applicable experience or 10 years’ experience
Proven experience as Communications Specialist
Proficient with Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Team, Outlook)
Proficient with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Canva or similar
Proficient in Illustration, Infographics, Iconography, and Page Layout
Solid understanding of Communications Management principles
Solid understanding of Project Management principles
Solid understanding of Knowledge Management principles
Experience with communication planning process and measurement techniques
Excellent communication (oral and written), presentation, and interpersonal skills
Outstanding organizational and planning abilities
Ability to prioritize work tasks by establishing priorities to meet deadlines
Meticulous attention to detail
Team oriented and ability to work in a collaborative environment
Portfolio of work available for review
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- Solid understanding of IT Service Management principles
