CACI International Senior VMWare Engineer in National Harbor, Maryland
Team CACI has an exciting and challenging opportunity available for a Sr. VMware Engineer supporting a DHS customer’s wide-area (WAN), local-area (LAN) and campus-area (CAN) networks across multiple security domains. CACI will provide a variety of IT services through including cyber security, identity and access management, capacity planning, cloud integration and engineering, field support services, Tier 3/4 support, application deployment and optimization, and operations center support services. CACI will support IT operational environments increasing availability and security for a variety of applications and systems.
What You’ll Get to Do:
Ensure the overall health and strong security posture of complex network architectures. The Sr. VMware Engineer will be actively involved with all phases of security design, implementation, proactive monitoring, troubleshooting and analysis of firewalls, IDSs, VPNs, security controls and policies. Develops system specifications, architecture designs, integration and test plans, and all relevant documentation. Develops security assessment and mitigation strategies. Maintain compliance with DOD Information Assurance requirements as well as ensuring service performance indicators are met or exceeded.

Work with both corporate and customer leadership to research, analyze, and implement enterprise-wide network security solutions/capabilities/enhancements to support customer business/mission goals and objectives.
Assists with designs, analyses, tests and implementation of state-of-the-art secure network architectures.
Additional responsibilities include cloud storage management, backup, virtualization, monitoring and management tools, business continuity, high availability solutions, providing hardware estimates, supporting hardware and related applications.
Analyzes, coordinates, and implements infrastructure projects.
Provide technical leadership for installation, configuration, and implementation of
VMware products and services.
Generate, provide and refine assessments of the implementation of best practices in developing, deploying, and sustaining VMware products
Use test plans to validate the configuration of virtual infrastructure
Provide physical to virtual migration planning and execution
Implement best practices when developing and deploying VMware solutions
Provide support for upgrading production virtual environment to the latest VMware patches and major releases
Perform VMware audit on all virtual infrastructure components prior to and following implementation of major upgrades
Monitors system performance and capacity, and provides periodic system status reports to department management
Analyzes reports to identify trends and opportunities for process and technology enhancements.
Work with a team of engineers on the strategic planning on AWS cloud design and deployment requirements.
Create AWS cloud functional design specifications and implementation plans.
Design, build, maintain, document, and automate technical processes and operations using AWS cloud services.
Manage live production and dev environments, ensuring system availability and scalability.
Provides cost and trend analysis and resolutions to critical Infrastructure problems.
Responsible for development and execution of standard operating procedures
Creates and follows SOPs
Daily administration of the load balancer environment
Monitors network performance, troubleshoots issues and deploys solutions
Experience with security infrastructure sustainment, maintenance, and advanced baseline configurations. (firewalls, web gateways, mail gateways, IDS, intrusion detection systems, and management tools.
Plans and implements upgrades and installs new equipment
Conducts encryption technology, penetration and vulnerability analysis of various security technologies, and information technology security research
Inform management in a clear, concise, and timely manner of any customer or technical issues
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
US Citizenship required
An active Entrance on Duty (EOD) is required to begin employment and must be maintained as a requirement of continued employment
A minimum of seven (7) years of subject matter experience deploying WAN/LAN, Routing, Switching, Optimization and extensive exposure with Cloud Service Providers
VMware and vSphere design, integration and deployment.
Experience on VMware and ESX 6.0+ deployment, configuration, and maintenance.
Design, integrate, and deploy VMware IT solutions.
Provide operational engineering support to enterprise-level solutions using virtual server hosting, backup solutions, off-site data replication and service level storage solutions.
Experience with VMware vSphere, VMware VCAC, VMware vRealize, and AWS
Provision Virtual Machines and patches to the software and hardware hosting infrastructure.
Experience leading system integration projects as the technical lead.
Experience working with customers to capture/document requirements.
Proven experience with Agile, sprints and DevOps concepts
Experience working with a Scrum Master, Daily Scrum meetings, sprints and written deliverables
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Strong critical thinking, complex problem solving, appropriate judgment and decision-making skills
Proven communicator and leader. Must be able to work well in an environment facilitating a large group of government and other contractor personnel to achieve a common goal
Evaluates modern technologies to optimize network efficiency
Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef or Ansible
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Flexible – The environment is highly dynamic. You will be expected to keep up with the changing environment while ensuring a high-level of operational effectiveness along with sprint work items and deliverables due the end of each sprint.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Relevant DHS focused experience
Cloud technologies with an emphasis on Azure or Amazon Web Services.
Active Directory experience, particularly in a large environment.
Strong scripting skills.
NetApp storage administration and operation experience.
LAN/WAN networking experience.
Ability to apply ITIL v3 Foundation concepts within the workplace
At least one of the following certifications:
Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)
Microsoft Windows Server Administration
VMWare Certified Professional
