Job Description

About the Role:

  • Develop, review, research, and prepare designs for new product development and for improvements to existing items.

  • Conduct design engineering, hardware conceptualization, prototyping, and review of the overall product while accounting for supportability requirements.

  • Develop and fabricate prototypes of engineering designs; modify the original designs; identify requirements for and complete validation testing of engineering designs; and prepare Technical Data Packages (TDPs).

  • Perform reverse engineering consistent with all applicable data rights and patents on Government-owned systems, subsystems, equipment, and components and produce a design disclosure TDP meeting Government specified standards.

  • Develop prototypes of hardware based on reverse engineering data.

  • Assess proposed engineering changes, perform feasibility studies, and investigate and resolve hardware system issues in the areas of technology application and insertion and also in the areas of product performance and reliability

  • Develop rapid prototyping techniques to develop quick-reaction proof-of-concept prototypes of systems, subsystems, and components.

  • Conduct rapid prototyping techniques to develop systems, subsystems, circuit cards, and assemblies, including any software, firmware, and algorithms required for their operation.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Evaluate materials and develop machinery and processes to manufacture materials for use in products that must meet specialized design and performance specifications.

  • Develop new uses for known materials or works with metals, composite materials, ceramic, glass, plastics, polymers, semiconductors, naturally occurring materials and combination of materials or composites to create new materials that meet certain mechanical, electrical, and chemical requirements.

  • Duties include:

  • leading material BOM development

  • integrating system hardware

  • validating operations end-user performance

  • conducting reliability analysis

  • building rapid prototypes

  • supporting tests

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain/maintain DoD Security Clearance

  • Master’s of Science degree and/or Ph.D. in Industrial or Mechanical engineering with undergraduate degrees in Industrial engineering or Mechanical engineering preferred, or another closely related field

  • 12+ years of experience in the field or in a related area;

  • or a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or another closely related field

  • 10-14 years of experience in the field or in a related area

  • Experience with reverse engineering

  • Experience developing prototypes

  • Recognized master in a technical discipline

  • Establishes operational plans for technical area

  • Has developed and implemented innovative products, processes, standards or operational plans achieved through research and integration of best practices that had an impact on the achievement of functional results of a project or system

  • Has experience significantly improved on existing processes and practices

  • Has used extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and independently performs a wide variety of complicated tasks.

  • Provides consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top-level contributor/specialist.

  • Able to lead and direct the work of others

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Active DoD SECRET clearance

  • DAWIA Mfg Level II
