What You’ll Get to Do:The Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector will be the QA lead for the CACI Customer Support in Franklin, LA. This off site group of CACI personnel will be intimately involved with the customer working Engineering, Planning, Supply Support, and Production operations. The QA Inspector is responsible for weld quality of all manufactured components and working with the customer the development of the forms and computer files to store all of the data, and maintain the hardcopies on site. He will be assisted in this effort by the CACI Database Administrator. He/she will ensure and maintain compliance with NAVSEA quality standards. The QA Inspector is supported by a NDT Inspector and reports directly to the Project Quality Manager. This position is a critical position in ensuring adherence to engineering and technical principalsMore About the Role:QA Inspector will be working in a production environment associated with the advance planning and accomplishment of welding operations on platforms and jigs used to support the construction of the aluminum structures. He/she will work with the Engineering Planner and Welding Engineer on interpretation of new structural steel designs for platforms and jigs as well as existing aluminum structural design in support of the development of Visual Work Instructions and concurrence of NDT and inspection requirements.
Monitor the execution of welding work in progress to ensure that it complies with the applicable codes, standards, and specific job requirements.
Be responsible for overall weld quality, workmanship and for making sure that all weldments are 100% visually inspected.
Be responsible for execution of welding inspection procedures and protocols as specified in customers Quality Management Plan and the associated manuals and process documentation.
Be responsible for assuring that only qualified and certified welders are used, as specified by contract documents for the welding process and procedures permitted for use.
Be responsible for assuring continuity of the welders’ qualifications as required by American Welding Society (AWS) D1.2
Evaluate completed weld elements for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and job requirements.
Conducts inspection of welding equipment to ensure proper settings and operations.
Working with the customer Quality Assurance Manager and supported by the CACI Database Administrator develop the forms and computer files to store all of the data and capture and maintain the hardcopies and other Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) at a single project site.
Develop processes, document procedures, develop training lessons and conduct training for all personnel in the procedures that implement the Quality Management Plan, the use of Visual Work Procedures, Quality Assurance forms, Quality Assurance Instructions, NDT procedures and development and retention of records.
Working with the customer Quality Assurance Manager develop internal audit process to by the project Quality Assurance Department including actions to correct administrative errors.
Develops work instructions, procedures and assists with quality and manufacturing personnel training.
Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and regulations.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Must be a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) in accordance with the provisions of QC1 Standard for the AWS Certification of Welding Inspectors or the equivalent requirements of the B5.1 Specification for the Qualification of Welding Inspectors
10 years or more credible NDT and QA experience in the design and construction of complex marine structures such as barges, ships hulls, decks , bulkheads, foundations, sponsons, elevators or deck houses.
Familiar with structural production planning techniques such as lay out, lofting and prefabrication of structural sub-assemblies.
Experienced with structural weld joint design welding, structural inspection and non-destructive testing.
The candidate should have significant experience with heavy aluminum structures of 1/2 thick or greater, structural planning techniques (lay out, lofting, or prefabrication, handling structures weighing 10 tons or more (rigging gear, crane operations)
The candidate should have experience in building structures in an inverted position.
The candidate should understand structural dimensioning including tolerances and tolerance build up.
The candidate shall have experience with adherence to a Quality Management Plan including the developing and maintaining an objective quality evidence system, importance of consistency, accuracy and province of quality history records, and the identification and resolution of quality issues.
The candidate must be competent in the use of computer aided design systems and production planning and scheduling systems.
Knowledge of structural estimating and scheduling and be familiar with the application and use of an Earned Value Management System.
