What You’ll Get to Do:
CACI is seeking an Historian to join the Research Resources Team responsible for researching and verifying the participation of military and DOD personnel in U.S. atmospheric nuclear testing programs and related activities. The Historian will research military records through various archives, document the status of the case, and draft the final correspondence.
More About the Role:
Review case files to determine documentation required to accurately and fully respond to VA, DOJ, and civilian requests for information within program mandated response times.
Conduct primary and archival records research using a variety of tools to develop military veteran location and activity histories.
Draft and edit responses and technical documents to convey research findings in a clear and concise manner following program developed guidelines.
Accurately record and update historical and radiation dose information in program database using web-based software.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
B.A. degree in History or related Social Sciences field
1+ years of Archival/library research experience
There is no clearance requirement to begin employment. However, as a requirement of continued employment in this position you will be required to obtain a Secret clearance.
Ability to effectively communicate in writing (sample desirable)
Ability to use on-line historical and genealogical tools
Knowledge of military organization and terminology
Data abstraction and analytical skills
Attentiveness to detail and accuracy
Ability to track and update case files and status in digital database environment

- Ability to work both independently and within small team setting.
