CACI International Storage Engineer in Reston, Virginia

Job Description

As a Storage Area Network (SAN) engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and administering all aspects of the Storage Area Network with the customer’s datacenter. You will also, be providing data storage and archiving services in 24x7x365 operational environment, while working in a SAN environment.

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Developing and recommending storage and virtual solutions, improvements, standards and internal processes to efficiently and cost effectively meet the technology needs of our internal users

  • Providing top level technical support for all internal technology users of storage and virtual solutions, and related infrastructure

  • Proposing technical changes based upon storage and virtual solutions performance and capacity data to ensure cost effective continued fulfillment of internal technology users' needs

  • Reviewing technical details of outages to services provided by virtual and storage solutions to establish potential impact and future risk to availability of services and recommending course of action to minimize risk of future service outages

  • Evaluating planned technical changes in other MIS areas to solutions, which interact with storage and virtual solutions and recommending any necessary actions to ensure continued functionality of storage and virtual solutions for our internal technology users and SAN operational support (Monitoring/Performance)

  • Allocating/de-allocating SAN LUNs

  • Creating SAN health reports using NetApp OnCommand Insight (OCI)

  • Installing/updating firmware and security patching

  • Submitting tickets to vendor to troubleshoot problems

  • Providing backup and disaster recovery storage support

You will have experience with the following:

  • Strong working knowledge in basic storage fundamentals with an understanding of major networking concepts

  • Strong working knowledge of many various vendor storage array technologies in SAN, including Brocade, CISCO, Hitachi, IBM, and NetApp

  • Working knowledge of many various vendor storage management applications, such as NetApp NOM, and OCI

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours to complete implementations and resolve issues

  • Desirable in one or more of the following:

  • NetApp storage devices

  • LAN/WAN components

  • EMC

  • Hitachi

  • Encryption

  • Firewalls

  • VPN

  • Backup services

  • OS/Software/Servers

  • Solaris

  • Linux

  • Red Hat

  • Virtualization technologies

  • Networking

  • SRS (Remedy)

  • Microsoft Office Suite

You will have one of the following:

  • 12 Years of job related experience and High School/GED diploma

  • 10 Years of job related experience and Associate degree

  • 8 Years of job related experience and Bachelor’s degree

  • 6 Years of job related experience and Master’s degree

  • 4 Years of job related experience and Doctorate

Experience with the following is a plus:

  • Working knowledge of basic virtualization technologies and implementation

  • Working knowledge of data protection service and support tools/applications, such as Symantec NetbackUp

Work hours:

8 hour day (core hours are 9am to 3pm) team must cover 6AM to 6PM with rotating after hours requirements
