More About the Role:
In this role as a Windows Systems Engineer you will:
Provide Tier 4 Windows Operating System (OS) and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) support to multiple production networks
Code software installation and configuration scripts using PowerShell
Standardize SCCM task sequences across multiple networks
Engineer and develop engineering solutions to customer requirements around Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2, and Server 2016 OS platforms, to include migration strategies
Troubleshoot ad-hoc Windows datacenter server build issues
Mentor junior-level team members
Verify security scan results and assists with investigation
Test, debug, and assist in the refinement of system products
Design, implement and document efficient procedures for the distribution and installation of changes to IT systems
Prepare required documentation to include program-level, administrator-level and installer-level documentation
Handle other duties as assigned
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Microsoft certifications and/or skills with multiple Microsoft Windows server operating systems (2008R2, 2012R2 and 2016)
Troubleshoot and use native operating system utilities (e.g. NSLOOKUP, PING, IPCONFIG, TRACERT, CHKDSK, NETSTAT, ARP, etc.)
Proficiency with Microsoft Enterprise Administrative tools and their technologies (e.g. Active Directory, DNS, DNS-R, DHCP, Group Policies)
Working experience using SCCM to update WIM files, create operating system and SCCM boot media images, create software packages and create Operating System Deployment Task Sequences.
Ability to troubleshoot SCCM server build process errors and familiarity with SCCM log file content
Familiar with HP physical server models
Working knowledge of VMware vSphere console to build virtual servers and test SCCM build process
Ability to create software installation packages to include adding roles and features using PowerShell scripting
Familiarity with enterprise software patching and cyclical platform reboots
Demonstrated on-the-job experience with virtualization technology (Hyper-V, VMware)
Working knowledge of WSUS
Strong oral and written communications skills
Education and Experience Requirements:
Candidate must have one of the following:
10 Years of job related experience and High School/GED diploma
8 Years of job related experience and Associate degree
4-7 Years of job related experience and Bachelor’s degree
3 Years of job related experience and Master’s degree
2 Years of job related experience and Doctorate
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Familiarity with VBScript
Experience with platform build task sequencing
Working knowledge of WSUS
Experience using DevOps tools to include JIRA, Jenkins, GitHub, Packer, Terraform
Demonstrated on-the-job experience with Disaster Recovery/COOP exercises
Demonstrated on-the-job experience with HP hardware to include Blade Center
