What You’ll Get to Do:
THIS INTERNSHIP WILL BE FOR FALL 2022 AND CONTINUE INTO SPRING 2023 SEASON Under direct supervision and guidance, work closely with other interns, as well as seasoned engineers, on a project to create state-of-the-art network traffic generation solutions for customer applications across private industry and the US Government.
More About the Role:
-Perform work under close mentor guidance, including but not limited to: - Research present traffic generation tools utilized throughout the government and commercial cyber training enterprise to determine their strengths and shortfalls.
Investigate the “state-of-the-art” in network traffic generation to determine how new technologies can address present shortfalls.
Investigate free and open source (FOS) technologies that can simulate the actions of a user in a realistic manner, creating both network and host forensic artifacts.
Enhance wired and wireless “internet-in-a-box” capabilities that serve static and dynamic web pages, social media accounts, and modern chat clients that users would expect to see on the internet.
Investigate government and commercial solutions for social media support.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Enrollment in a 4-year degree program leading to a BS or enrollment in a 2-year degree program leading to an MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Broad computer science/computer engineering background including broad knowledge of algorithm and data structure implementation.
A strong understanding of the 7 layers of the Open Systems Interconnect (OSI) model, to include an understanding of TCP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, NTP, and other protocols commonly used for host communications with the internet.
A user level understanding of the LINUX operating system, including common commands, software installation, and network functionality.
IN ADDITION TO TECHNICAL SKILLS – applicants must possess strong written communication skills. Technical writers strongly urged to apply.
Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearance
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- Computer Forensics experience a plus, particularly network and windows host forensics.
-Experience with FOS forensics tools (for instance Sleuth Kit) a plus.

Pay Range: The proposed salary range for this position is $34,100-$68,200. There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.
