As a recognized expert, you will review and analyze very complex foreign source material, both printed and audio. you will be assigned a broad area of translation responsibility and may delegate portions of work to junior personnel. Provides analysis and reporting of translated foreign language source material. Typically leads a team of linguists supporting operations CONUS or OCONUS.
Must be a U. S. citizen and able to obtain a customer granted security clearance. Must possess native or near native proficiency in the foreign language, with a minimum of 3L/4R on the DLPT or equivalent test that uses the ILR scale with the recent three years. Must also achieve a minimum score of 3L/3R in English language using the ILR scale within the recent three years. Expertise in open source research and naval terminology is desired.
Translates myriad text documents including technical manuals, foreign language periodicals, and materials including slang and colloquial language into good grammatical English.
Transcribes and translates advanced foreign language audio files into good grammatical English in either verbatim or gisted format.
Manages databases of translated source material.
Recommends changes to customer furnished language processing software.
Develops and implements translation methodology and quality control procedures and standards.
Leads analytical meetings or conferences.
Drafts final product reports and provides quality control of reports generated by junior linguistics.
Shares language expertise with Government or Contractor Language and Intelligence Analysts, or other personnel as required.
Serves as organizational consultant and spokesperson on specialized projects and technical issues.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Typically requires Master’s degree or equivalent and 13-15 years of relevant experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: CONUS: Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
