Job Description
The Navy Ship Production Design Engineer will assist the Production and Technical PAPMs with review of design related documentation including producibility issues/engineering & design issues/adhoc trial cards, CAR, testing, change validation/verification, and management of contract verification effort. The position will be responsible for development of impact assessments and subsequent documentation for program leadership.
What You’ll Get to Do:
The Navy Ship Production Design Engineer will assist the Production and Technical PAPMs with review of design related documentation including producibility issues/engineering & design issues/adhoc trial cards, CAR, testing, change validation/verification, and management of contract verification effort. The position will be responsible for development of impact assessments and subsequent documentation for program leadership.
Provide design engineering expertise to assist the Program Office Production PAPM in a fast-paced FMS Program currently constructing multiple ships.
Interface with the Navy PMS 525 Program Office Team, Industry Prime Contractor and Shipbuilder Team, Navy Supervisor of Shipbuilding Team.
•Travel up to 20% of the time to the shipyard
More About the Role:
Interfaces and collects data, updates, information from Production Team, including Industry Team, SSBA Team, and PMS 525 Team.
Works with configuration management group as well as SSBA to assess pending changes, waivers and deviations for contract/requirement adherence as well as production impacts.
Works across Technical and Production Teams to identify open design reservations, develops metrics to track these reservations, and documents shipbuilder closure progress.
Reviews contractor CDRL submittals associated with production tracking, management, and execution.
Participates in production working groups, IPTs, and other ad hoc working groups as required.
Tracks Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) events, progress, and reports any issues from testing.
Develops briefs, memorandums, and letters for PEO leadership, Navy leadership, and foreign customers.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of ship production or technical management experience
Experience working in a US Navy shipbuiling program office in a leadership role
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel and Power Point.
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
US Citizenship
Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
DAU Level III Program Management Certification
Experience working at a shipyard facility overseeing production
Experience assessing ship/system designs for contractual adherence and producibility
