CACI’s Business and Information Technology Solutions (BITS) Sector, is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support a large Department of Homeland Security (DHS) contract. If you are a motivated individual looking to be a part of critical mission, CACI would like to speak with you.

What You'll Get To Do:

The Network Operations Center for the DHS St. Elizabeth's Campus is a 24x7 environment with the responsibility of monitoring and managing the Campus IT infrastructure to ensure campus infrastructure is operating normally and providing the required service availability and performance.

More About the Role:

  • The Network Specialist performs a variety of systems engineering tasks and activities that are broad in nature and are concerned with major systems design, integration, and implementation.

  • Provides technical leadership and manages the short- and long-term needs of DHS networks, and supports projects requiring network resources and development of network-related policies and procedures

  • Provides assistance and oversight for all information systems operations activities, including computer and telecommunications/communications operations, data entry, data control, LAN/MAN/WAN administration and operations support, operating systems programming, system security policy procedures, and/or web strategy and operations.

  • Supervises all personnel engaged in the operation and support of network facilities, including all communications equipment on various platforms in large scale or multi-shift operations.

  • Constantly reviews and responds to complex operations that involve two or more additional functions such as, but not limited to, network operations, systems security, systems software support, and production support activities.

  • Administers the routine testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities (including power, software, communications machinery, lines, modems, and terminals).

  • Analyzes, identifies, and resolves network operational issues to ensure optimum performance and network capacity, and assists with the support of all server platforms that communicate through the network to determine requirements for new and existing systems

  • Utilizes software and hardware tools and identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network performance.

  • Troubleshoots network systems when necessary and makes improvements to the network.

  • Provides technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations.

  • Designs, builds and implements network systems.

  • Monitors and responds to hardware, software, and network problems.

  • Provides technical leadership on major tasks or technology assignments.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship required

  • Current DHS HQ Entry on Duty (EOD) holders given preference. EOD is required to start

  • Active DoD SECRET clearance required

  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Sciences, or related IT discipline and 5-8 years of hands on experience in network design, administration, operations, procedures, and troubleshooting

  • ITIL Foundations required

  • Ability to read and maintain network maps; ability to trace fiber runs and detect issues

  • Experience working in a large government or corporate enterprise environment

  • Experience working in a process-oriented workflow environment

  • Ability to work well under pressure, meeting multiple deadlines

  • Mature verbal and written communication skills required

  • Ability to maintain customer focus during difficult circumstances

  • Experience as a member in a team environment

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical staff as well as less technical colleagues

  • Understanding of federal contracting environment, a plus

  • Hands on experience monitoring and responding to alarmed fiber events

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Relevant DHS focused experience

  • CCNA or CCNP preferred

  • Hands on experience utilizing Panorama
