Provide paralegal support on-site at the CFTC for the Division of Enforcement. Perform duties involving the processing of legal work and performing a variety of legal, technical and administrative functions to support organizational activities.
What You’ll Get to Do:
Review and process incoming FOIA requests
Perform legal research and assist in drafting legal documents
Review documents to extract and summarize selected data and information
Review case materials to become familiar with questions under consideration
Review case files - noting and correcting case file deficiencies
Review and analyze available relevant precedents
Gather and review data to discover patterns
Oversee reproduction of legal records and other documents
Maintain case records and scan documents
Conduct inventory of files and make recommendations on changes to record collection and retention
Perform special projects and other assignments as may be required
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
Requires paralegal certificate. J.D. may be substituted with approval.
At least one year of litigation paralegal experience required; trial experience very helpful.
Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge and hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
Automated litigation support experience valued.
Must have basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation to cite check legal motions and memorandum and must have sufficient experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw to perform basic legal research.
Role also requires basic familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of e-discovery procedures and resources.
Must eligible for U.S. security clearance. (U.S. Citizenship required.)
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision; and ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure.
Federal litigation experience and FOIA experience desired.
