What You’ll Get to Do

Join the FISMSS project as a .NET Software Developer supporting financial management applications that help our Department of Defense customers plan and budget resources to support our country. We have been supporting our customers for over 20 years with 5 applications across 7 different clients. We continue to develop and implement exciting and complex solutions to support the evolving needs of our customers.

You will get to work on all aspects of the application, including writing SQL and altering the data model, developing state of the art .NET code in the mid-tier, and implementing complex and modern solutions utilizing the latest JavaScript libraries in the presentation tier. You will work closely with the development lead and technical architect for technical mentoring and guidance. You will be expected to collaborate closely with all members of the scrum team to implement the most accurate and high-quality solutions possible. You will also assist with troubleshooting production issues and may also be asked to interact with users remotely or on-site during periods of the peak system use.

  • As a Senior developer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of application solutions within an object-oriented environment. As well as various responsibilities:

  • Assignments involve knowledge of .NET 4.5/5.0, MVC 4, LINQ, Entity Framework, C#.NET, Telerik/Kendo, T-SQL, HTML, JavaScript and CSS.

  • Follow the software development life cycle for each development task following the Agile Scrum methodology by brainstorming the technical approach, developing code, and unit testing according to the development schedule and team processes.

  • Research and recommend technologies that improve current systems and provide vision for future technology architecture and infrastructure.

  • Stays current with cutting-edge technologies to improve and modernize existing applications' functionality, performance, and UI.

  • Prepare technical designs/prototypes when needed.

  • Mentor and teach more junior developers.

  • Help the technical lead in the design of optimized, scalable, and reusable solutions.

  • Work closely with the functional team to determine feasibility of requirements and collaborate on design ideas and improvements.

  • Participate in backlog grooming, estimation, and other Agile Scrum ceremonies.


  • Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent; more than 7 years of related work experience.


  • Normal demands associated with an office environment. Must have the ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Limited travel to the Pentagon may be necessary.


  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodology, processes, and techniques

  • Thorough knowledge of web development

  • Ability to learn at a fast pace and be able to rapidly learn and leverage third-party tools, SDKs, and APIs

  • Demonstrated experience creating/maintaining unit tests

  • Experience with data-driven applications

  • U.S. Citizen eligible to attain a clearance

  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Desire to work in an Agile environment.


  • Experience with simple Database Administration techniques a plus

  • Experience designing, developing and deploying software in a cloud environment (AWS is a plus)

  • Experience developing and deploying software in a DoD environment
