What You’ll Get to Do:

The Senior Systems/Network Architect works with the customer and various vendors and will be responsible for the design, testing, implementation, configuration validation, operation, maintenance, administration, management, backup, and recovery of Government IT infrastructure systems, to include servers and storage devices, with an overarching system engineering function used to guide and direct the overall value and effectiveness of the Network. This role will also perform Tier 3 functions such as handling technical escalations from Tier 2 team. Projects may consist of designing, building and deploying of new network and infrastructure components such as, firewalls, databases, servers, network storage devices, other network components, Azure migration, and may require assisting with installation/uninstallation and removal of hardware such as switches, servers, routers, databases, servers, storage devices, and other network infrastructure components. This is a customer facing position and as such this candidate must have the ability to directly interact with clients, customers and vendors to include executive level.

More About the Role:

  • Assess customer objectives, goals, intents, requirements, standards, etc. and re-craft these multifaceted constituents to re-state the problem and translate into enterprise objectives and requirements

  • Analyze business requirements to develop technical network solutions and their framework.

  • Develop transition strategies, plans, and processes for migration from a legacy WAN and for co-evolving components of systems and their integration

  • Establish and maintain the baseline for enterprise network design

  • Enhance enterprise network engineering team accomplishments and competence by planning delivery of architectural solutions; answering technical and procedural questions for less experienced team members; teaching improved processes; mentoring team members

  • Assess customer objectives, goals, intents, requirements, standards, etc. and re-craft these multifaceted constituents to re-state the problem and translate into enterprise objectives and requirements

  • Experience with storage area network (SAN) services, including Backup and archive technologies

  • Experience with cloud technologies and infrastructure (Microsoft Azure)

  • Design, build and oversee implementation of enterprise-class security solutions across cloud-based and on-prem environments

  • Develop test plans, implementation plans, and project timelines for various projects.

  • Experience with Active Directory and related Microsoft services

  • Define the enterprise network backbone(s), local access, cloud and premise architecture, and services to support the architecture (both commercial and/or developed)

  • Document the design with multiple views for various usage levels (technical, architectural, business, operational, maintenance, etc.)

  • Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems.

  • Establish enterprise network architecture baselines and works with network system engineering to allocate requirements to all elements of the enterprise network

  • Experience Switches, routers, servers, UPS/PDU, circuits, other equipment (install/move/configuration/turn-up/testing)

  • Attend all meetings as directed by the FPS COR and contribute to specific technical working groups, change control boards and change management boards set up to address engineering operations and issues within the agency and other Government agencies. The Contractor shall structure the technical requirements/knowledgebase on the current needs of DHS.

  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility

  • Coordinate with external service providers (Cable plant, CATV, VTC, Voice Systems, etc.) on the design and implementation of IT solutions which are not covered in the scope of work

  • Produce enterprise network engineering work products for the system under design to include: network communications hardware, software/platforms, systems, sparing plans, operational parameters, specifications, plans, and reports

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Able to obtain/maintain DHS Entry on Duty (EOD) suitability clearance

  • Master’s degree or equivalent and 15 years in the industry as a recognized technical expert on the subject OR Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 18 years

  • Senior level experience in government or industry in relevant work including: enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or systems architecture

  • Certification: Microsoft or Industry Certified Systems Engineer

  • Use Microsoft Visio to create diagrams

  • Excellent communication and soft skills

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Hyper-convergence infrastructure experience (Nutanix)

  • DHS Network operating standards

  • Certifications: Security+, CISSP, CCNP, CCIE, MCSE, MCSA, ITILv3 or v4 Foundation
